Howdy Folks

Looking forward to my first AG today, Its the Irish Red from HBC

My question is that I am borrowing a brew pot big enough for my 23litre brew but is it ok to draw my wort into a FV as I will only have the one pot on the go and can pitch all my wort back into brew pot once emptied of all water,
I am gonna batch sparge so this is where my problem is.

Also, its a dried yeast that came with it so is it better hydrate it first or pitch in dry?
I have only ever used liquid yeast

Thanks a mill

Do you mean drain from the mash tun to a fermenter then heat up the sparge water in the boiler and pour into the mash tun. Then drain from the fermenter to the boiler and drain your sparked wort into the boiler?

That's more or less what I do

Metattron

I used to use my brew kettle as a HLT and run off into a FV, then transfer it into the kettle to boil.  No problems with that.  I batch sparged also, so once the water is in, you can start draining into the kettle.  I used to get about 50-50 between the FV and the kettle, made it easier to move around also.

For the dried yeast, some rehydrate, I just sprinkle it onto the foam that is on top of the cooled wort after transferring it into the fv.  It sits on the foam and rehydrates itself.  Never had a problem with that.
In primary:
In secondary: Wine, Melomel
In keg: Teddy Hopper, Coconut stout, 4 Cs, Buzz bomb, Never Sierra, Bock, OD
In the fridge: Helles Lager, Hob Gob

I will be draining all the wort from mash into Fermenter and the once all thats done, I will be putting back into stock pot to boil

Gonna be a long time heating water but sure the day is long and thats what its all about sure

Thanks Lads
