just bottled an irish stout all-grain kit from the homebrew company and brewed their american pale ale a few days ago. im looking forward to trying these in a few weeks, has anyone done these kits? id love to hear how they went for you. the stout smelled nice while bottling and tasted nice too, im hoping it gets even better with time.

they are a great idea for a fella starting out on all grain and theres a good few to choose from. what do you fellas think?

Damien M

I have done both and both are good but the APA is excellent.

cheers for the reply DaMun, stout is my go to drink but the apa was for something tasty so im glad to hear that. have you tried any others? theres a new one just added called apollo ipa which sounds good and comes in at 6.5% i think ill try that one next so i can have a nice stockpile for christmas  :)

Yep I have done the Stout the APA and still have the Rauchbeer to brew

They are excellent kits for both the newcommer and the experienced AGer with loads of ingredients but not the right ones for a particular style he wants to try.

Yes they are more expensive to buy per brew than the other way, howvere, there is no waste with these. You don't end up withs bags of speciality malts and even worse expensive 100 gm hop bags with only say 20 gms used from each.

I recomment these to anybody
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Yeah - I cut my all grain teeth on these brewed the stout before - brewed other stouts since and have to say their kit is one of the nicest stouts I've brewed - the apa is good too

And as been said they are great for starting out in that you don't have left overs that your trying to fit around a recipie
coz theres always something new to do

I have tried at least 6 or 8 of their all grain kits and all work really well.

The Belgium Witt goes down really well with the "Afraid of Craft types".... Would of entered it in the summer sessions competition only I had none left!!   :P

The instant Recipe and no leftover grains as mentioned definitely justifies the price

marzen scorsese

i think ill give that belgium wit more consideration, ive a few  "Afraid of Craft types" id love to turn lol

i never understood that mentality "oh no i dont like the taste of this beer how will i ever recover from this" oh wait its just a bad taste im actually fine, cancel the ambulance  :)

Brewing the american wit now,  if you look on the recipe part of the site i am sure its the same recipe as the kit. https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/american-wit-beer-p-1580.html
I have decided to follow the advice of brewing classic styles and included a protein rest (50c for 15 mins)
First time doing a brew in two parts, mashing tonight and boiling tomorrow.
