I'm aiming to get the lads to come over at some point next year! I'll update you! Do you know anyone else who is interested?

It'll all cost around 6-700$ I think...

quite a bit more...its a few hundred dollars for certified cicerone, bout 700 dollars for master  and theres an entry one as well to do.

I dont think it runs in Ireland does it?

I meant for the Certified Cicerone, there are less than 10 Master Cicerones and the bar seems to be very high!

I was however wrong: (only $424 to get certified)

Beer Server: $79 ($69 if you're not international)
Certified Cicerone: $345
Master: $695

You need to have achieved them in that order as well.

I contacted Ray Daniels earlier in the year and he said we'd need at least 10 signed up to make it worth their while sending someone over to run an exam. (I think that was if they were already in Europe they would stop here for that number)

I think that's an achieveable target but would need to discuss it with him again to see. (They are currently in Scotland running an exam I believe)

is there no English based equivalent? Ive done the MBAA associated beer steward but have to be in america to do the beer steward which includes the practical tasting exam.

Surely theres something equivalent closer to home?

Metattron

There are other beer sommelier qualifications, just not called Cicerone as that is a trademarked name for that one.
In primary:
In secondary: Wine, Melomel
In keg: Teddy Hopper, Coconut stout, 4 Cs, Buzz bomb, Never Sierra, Bock, OD
In the fridge: Helles Lager, Hob Gob

Does it really matter what its called as long as it gets the job done?

I'm sure we could have a look at the syllabus and form our own course :) then find someone in BJCP to act as judge/ moderator for exam days.

Ythere seems to be an awful lot of people doing an awfull lot of different bits of courses and paying an awful lot of pounds and dollars when we as a historic brewing nation have anough ability and brains to produce our own (validated) course equal in status to cicerone, Mbaa, bjcp or any of the other beer steward, sommalier, cicerone or whatever.
we have anough contacts knowledge and skills in our club to complete this mission. We have people like Tim O Rourke who seems to be here regularly and plenty of others I'm sure that could act as consultant

I want one! How do I pay? Whats Dempseys next short code for Xfer?.

All those medals of mine and a certificate "as gaeilge" and my shrine will be complete!

A little gold pin wouldn't go amiss either!

A fáinne is a little gold circle that native speakers wear, but more my parents' generation (my mother used to have one).
I was told that it was in the shape of circle but had a pin to hold it in place!

Exactly !

just as my misses explained (see - insider info)

Now with your new publishing and graphic design skills please morph these into the 3 + 1 cats I mentioned above

Cúpla Focal could well be the kit catgorey ;)

And then as you progress in the NHC your ring gets bigger and even more golden ( ??? ??? )
