So I have procured the following -

Corney Keg
Gas Disconnect
Liquid Disconnect with Picnic Tap and line
Empty Co2 Fire Extinguisher

So on the gas side of things, can i use the Fire Extinguisher when i get it refilled and is there a particular type of reg i should go for. Does the Fire Extinguisher need any kind of modifying to get going in this instance.

Ferm.: Pear Wine
Cond.: Cider
Bottled: Helles Lager, Pumpkin Ale
To Brew: Ginger Ale

Did you read the wiki on kegging?

yes - i guess i am curious is there a difference between a tank of Co2 and a fire extinguisher or are they essentially the same (once the black nozzle is removed). And regulators, i see different types available for different gases - I can get one from a homebrew shop to be sure its for Co2, just wondering will it attach to the fire extinguisher easily enough.

Alex sells regs and fittings are universal

If you'll be getting a fire extinguisher just make sure to remove tube from inside or use it upside down :P
Otherwise, liquid co2 may freeze your regulator and in the long term even damage it.
Got mine extinguisher from Doyle and Doyle in Tallaght for ~35e and they converted it for me.

No probs here. Using standard reg that got from Norm.

thanks Guys - need it refilled anyway so will ask to get the tube removed - IM in the south east so not sure who refills them down here, will search that out. If Alex's regs will fit, I will give him a shout.

so last bits to get - i have gas  ;D, regulator, disconnects with tap, corny, fridge and beer -

so the outlet on the reg is 3/8 BSP - so i need a john guest for that - and then the gas line - the disconnect has a barb which I think its 1/4 inch - so do i need 3/16 line??

got here in the end - got a 3/8 bsp brass fitting to go on the reg, output is a 1/4 inch barb - same size as the disconnect - a length of 3/8 pipe - the inner diameter is /4 inch and is snug on the barbs, i put on jubilee clips on each and we had gas flowing. IM enjoying a pale ale right now from it. Needs a bit more carbonation and i need to get the hang of the pressure to pour at as its a bit foamy - but i will get there. Cheers all for the help.

Hi 00833827,
A VERY impotant point that has not been raised here is 'RESISTANCE'  >:( .....It's not futile in your case  :P

The reason you're getting lot's of foam is because your using a short line with a picnic tap which is impossible not to produce loads of foam with, you need to make resistance, one way is to get an expensive Beer tap, will have a plug built into it which you can vary the resistance nice and easily for a given pressure
If you want to use the picnic tap, then you might want to pop into radionics and pick up some epoxy mixer nozzles (I'll dig out the part number if you're interested)

Here's an american forum talking about it
http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/cure-your-short-hose-troubles-100151/

you'll need to figure out how many nozzles to drop into the dip tube for the pressure your serving at, or just vary the pressure until you get a good pour.
