Sanitising bottles the day before

I'm thinking of sanitising bottles tomorrow and bottling maybe Saturday or Sunday. Would it work if I sanitised bottles tomorrow (where I have loads of time) and "sealing" with sanitised tin foil, and bottled on Saturday/Sunday (where I have less time/may be hungover)?

if it's laziness, why go to all this extra bother.
Just soak and fill on the day. 10 minutes and you're set,  saving the bother of making and sanitizing tinfoil caps .

It'd work but it's madness. With a vinator and bottling tree it can't take more than 4 or 5 minutes for 40 bottles?? What are u doing, dunking them in a bucket?

I always rinse, then dunk 10/11 bottles into about 20 litres of sanitising solution, drain, then "cap" with sanitised tin foil and use when all 40-ish bottles are done. Just wondered if the period of waiting between sanitising and bottling could be increased.

I'd say they cud be stored indefinitely depending on how well sealed the cap is

There is one of the lads on homebrewtalk or Jims, I can't remember, he uses the type of strip that is used to seal test tubes in a lab to seal his bottles after sanitising and then leaves them indefinitely.
He works in a lab so it's easy for him to get, not sure what it's called but it's a stretchy see through plastic that you stretch over an opening and pull to rip, it kinda works like cling film.

Sanitise the caps in the same solution as you use to clean your bottles, and then cap the dry, sanitised bottles.
Store indefinitely, I have been doing it this way for over a year.

An advantage is that on the occasion that something wasn't completely clean, you can just set that bottle aside on bottling day.

However I am going to convert my process to using star san, now that it has arrived. The bleach based sanitisers that I used in the past, are leaving residue in my beers that is killing the head.

Those reseal caps look like a good solution. I have been double cleaning bottles up to now!

Aren't your crates dirty?  Mine are ancient and God only knows where they've been!
I wouldn't have the tops of my bottles in contact with them.

Fair point - but my crates are basically clean (hosed down and star san'd).

Its only to reduce the likelyhood of crap getting in. The bottles are still rinsed and star san'd before use.
