I'm upgrading my equipment at the moment, replacing plastic taps with S/S ones so far. Want to add in a temp dial to my boiler and MLT. Homebrewwest have fancy weld less Blichmann Boilometers. I've a plastic boiler (from Hop and Grape) and a picnic cooler MLT. The boiler I'm not too worried about, the weld less will probably be fine, but what dial would work with the MLT? Would I need a bulkhead?

Hop Bomb

Ive a stainless steel insulated MLT. I fitted it with a blichmann thermometer. What you need to do is drill through the outer skin with a spade bit but dont go through the inner skin (i used special q max cutters as my MLT is steel - you wont need these as the picnic cooler is plastic). Then you can drill the inner skin to the correct diameter hole so you can fit your weldless thermometer.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

I just recently got 3 of the following for my new all SS setup but they are untested other than leak testing  ::) must do a side by side with a Glass thermometer ::)

2 shorts for the HLT and BK and 1 long for the MT. you need to get the backing nuts and for your plastic vessels you should back with SS washers ( local hardware purchase)

Thanks guys, might go for the blichmann as hbw have them (stay local and all that)

Anybody any experience with temp and plastic boilers?

Ciderhead

Got some generics and blichmans in the states for someone, they were twice the cost but really did look the part.
