Anyone else tried their cider yet?

I pasteurised and sweetened half at the weekend and put it in a vinotainer. The other half I left dry and bottled. I had a few pints along with it.... My head was sore yesterday.

Give it another couple of months, did you use a lot of campden ::)

I used the recommended amount of Campden. I can't remember what that dosing rate was, but I think it was 10 tablets to the container.

Hah I love that so you wake up with a headache from drinking too much and you blame the campden tablets ;D

I didn't yack, but I was awoken from the sofa at half six or so when the baby woke up.

I had two types, one with pectolase added and one without, they were both almost as clear as each other at this point. It appears the pectolase strips a lot of flavour and I would not use it again if I were making cider with local juice as it was impossible to tell them apart clarity wise but there was a much better flavour from the non-treated portion.

They were crystal clear. That said what I was drinking, due to transfers etc was possibly not the clearest, but it wasn't murky either.

Leave it 12 months in a bottle and you will get some flavour profile back.
