Anyone going to Farringtons on 28th and has leftover ingredients for this I can buy them. I need everything except pale malt and yeast.  can take enough for two brews as I might do a small brew later for myself. Cheers...

Are we going to profile temp this fermentation? Or are there any other special instructions we need to follow?
I am brewing tomorrow.

What mash temp am I looking to hit? (as CH's original recipe used "My Mash Profile" !! which is his and not mine)

And as above pitch at what Temperature?.

Ferment over about 10 days - what temp Profile?

Then into secondary - again: what temperature profile?

6th - 10th February - Transfer to secondary (11 - 15 days in primary depending on how it looks)
22nd February - Fill barrel combined with TOG brewday (Ronan's suggestion)
The 22nd(Sat) is not so good as its the bottle sorting day for the Nationals!

I thought TOG days were more Sundays?

Hi Will, mash profile in Cathals opening.
I am going to start ferment at 18 and up to 21 over a week.

Thanks John,

So its mash @ 68.9C for 45 mins!

Going to need an expensive thermometer to get the 0.1 C accuracy

But its a pretty short mash isn't it?

We should really all be using Lager malt for a Dubbel in a step profile, even though modern grains are well modified it still brings subtly to the end product that you don't get from a single infusion.
With everybody using PM we will get more complexity out at higher temp in 45 mins and get our fermentables from the sugar crystals.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Didn't realise the overlap, the date is not set in stone though. We tried out a Saturday last year to see if it suited more people.

Is anyone treating their water for this recipe?

I'm a little behind, SWIMBO left the kitchen in a mess then feiced off for the weekend. Keep the updates coming in Will !

I'm gonna have to postpone to tomorrow, force 9 and horizontal rain are not great for outside brewing.

It would make for some great action shots though!  ;)
