Someone with a Pill Press

OK: Whats a "Pill Press"?

Its a simple small device (bench tool) that compresses powders into pills. Either a single pill or multiple pills can be made - it all depends on the tooling. Its like a punch and die set but makes pills!

Why: Some entrpreneur could make NHC carbonating drops suitable for 330 / 500 / 750 mL bottles.

Ingredients: Glucose and a simple binding agent ( like dampness or a simple starch binder )

Result: Carbonating drops designed for the Irish market ( not those odd ball Ozzy ones
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

A modified bench capper could work. Ejecting could be a bit tricky maybe?

I'm not sure there's a need. 'those odd ball Ozzy ones' are grand at 1 per 500ml bottle (6grams per liter)
How many grams per drop would you think is more suitable?

Yeah, don't forget all the red tape that'd be put in your way by quangos such as the HSE, FSA, HIQA, ESB, RUC, DUP, etc...
You forgot Elomenopee

I don't need to use them.

I am just going on the fact that a lot of people post up complaining that the Ozzy drops are not correct for what we brew!

I also remember a pill press from a film about drugs, think they were making ecstacy tablets . . . .

But drops made to suit 330 / 500 / 750 would be an excellent idea!!!!

I think the main complaint is that the coopers recommended amount is 2 per 750ml bottle and we don't use 750ml bottles much, which leads to people needing to split to 1.5 per 500ml bottle to get the same rate.
In my opinion, that much priming sugar (8grams per liter) is almost always too much, and simply using 1 drop per 500ml is a far more suitable quantity for most beers.
They're never going to be correct for all brews, just convenient for folks who wont/cant bulk prime.

The problem with that is you'll often get foaming as soon as the beer hits the sugar.
i also find it hard to do without getting sugar everywhere and it's difficult to get consistency.

Some other folks make a sugar syrup and use a syringe, which can be more consistent and less messy.

What about funnel & 1/2 tbsp?

My problem with using a funnel is; after you've sanitized the funnel, it's wet. Add a tsp of sugar and your lucky if a 1/4 tsp gets into the bottle :x

You can let the funnel dry after sanitizing but that requires preparation  :P

Never had any problems with foaming but have to say that I've carbed ~10 bottles this way so far.
Using syringe would the way to go, but in case of 1-2 bottles.
