Chris

As above what methods do you use to clean your elements in you kettles?
Primary: Back to Black Again (Michael Jackson stout)
Secondary:
Conditioning:  Breac Donn Imperial Amber Ale
Drinking: Cascade Reaction Amber Ale, Fear Gorm Irish stout, lonesome pilgrim pale ale
Planned: imperial stout, finlandia kit hack

Eoin

I've added citric acid to a mini boil and then got it pretty hot, not boiling and then let it sit.

same, then a scrub with an abrasive pad on a sponge and a toothbrush for the hard to get bits.

Bazza

I soak them in a white wine vinegar solution for 24 hours. A quick once over with a toothbrush and they're like new again. Then rinse with boiled water to get rid of any traces of vinegar.

I fill the kettle with water and a few scoops of Lidl's W5. Heat to 35-40° and let it sit for a while. Quick rinse. No scrubbing required (yet).

i went with your method Gary and it seems to have done the job. Had to take a toothbrush to the element alright but didn't take long.

I just take them off and give them a good scrub with an abrasive sponge.

Saruman (Reuben Gray)

Hot water and a scrubby pad. All that's needed really.
