5 episode series on US Netflix about dogfish head brewery made by the Discovery Channel. First episode focused on Bitches Brew, their collabo with sony for the 40th anniversary of the Miles Davis album. Pretty good watch so far, each episode is 45 mins long.

Was apparently cancelled by Discovery as AHB and co put pressure on them to cancel or they would pull advertising

Just thought id let people know about it, Sam seems like a pretty decent dude in all fairness.

To access US netflix just install mediahint and add it to your extensions in Chrome, I believe its in the add on market for Firefox
Lifes Too Short To Not Make Beer

Have managed to torrent the 1st 3 episodes by bit torrent, still looking for the last few,the rumour is it was killed off by big business breweries... Ska brewing co do a great pisstake of it on YouTube and Sam Calagione going is gracious enough to take part and poke fun at himself too!

GrahamR

there is only 5 eps in total, just watch the last two on NF and your sorted. The Chicha episode is interesting. Corn based beer mashed by human saliva

Saw that one, yeah cup of kernels to chew for every member of staff, how do you put that one on a CV. Will try the media hint extension, have tried foxy proxy before but NF was too smart for it but BBC iPlayer was not!! ;-)

mediahint works perfectly, have been using it for months

I watched this a few months ago. Not sure what to make of Sam, he seems genuine but I reckon he'd be pretty annoying in reality with all his dude-ness.

dn218

Agree Qs, have started  into one of his books "brewing up a business" and had to put it down because of his lengthy explanations of how non-conformist he is, he seems very affable on the TED talks and has a genuine passion for brewing but.....meh...!!!
Ps his head brewer Bryan Selders is gone now...

Ive watched them all loads in work while printing. Very enjoyable. Its a bit american but not in any way annoying I thought. All the episodes were on piratebay last time I looked.

Ive watched all the brewdogs episodes too. I have to think its the producers who make them do all this wacky douchebaggy stuff as there is no way you can be that much of an annoying pr!ck in real life, right?
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

a great show, pity there's only a few. I never knew there was a 6th ep, must look that up. Watched the other few on US Netflix last year, it contributed to my want to brew.
I can see why people might see Sam as a "meat-head" the way he goes on with the "dude-ness", would seem he would be quite the opposite though if you think about it. He started DFH right outta college, give or take working in a restaurant job whilst studying writing in college, had a very "forward-thinking" approach to some of their brewing & business ideas and now ruing one of the bigger craft/real beer breweries in the US. I'm also reading his book (downloaded on iBooks on the phone so am getting through it slowly) and it's seems to be more of a success story than anything.

Must look up that Brewdogs too. Any other good brew related chewing gum for the eyes out there?

ferg

The best thing about this show is that it prompted me to listen to Bitches Brew after years of meaning to check it out... Mind=blown  :P

No I'd say it's mostly them - anything I've seen them in they come across as knobs - anyone I've talked to who has worked in the British beer industry has nothing good to say about them

Nah... They're grade a knobs. They had previous form as such on that C4 show about food. The beer show was pure cringe. Saying 'heyloow, how arya' to a glass of beer ffs. And the bald lad comes across as a bit of a sex pest to boot. Ugh!

imark

Eh... Blueshed won't be happy with that remark

Kieran the Human

+1 on the talking to your beer, "This is how we drink beer in Scotland" cringey - nah it wasn't begrudgery, it was bafflement at the persona the lads have adapted and their double standards. They try really hard to get across that they're anti-establishment and remind us that they're "constantly challenging and reimagining the very definition of beer", yet you can buy their beer in any supermarket in the UK, they're still adding to their list of chain pubs and one of their daddy's financed the brewery in the first place - so punk rock  ;D
