Reliable temperature logger?

Can anyone recommend a cheap temperature logger that would be good for capturing temperature swings around different rooms of the house/garage/attic etc?

Cheers.

We're looking at getting Tinytags from Gemini Data Loggers for work.

Although I doubt they'll be cheap if prices aren't posted on the website!  ::)

Cheers for that.  Yeah cheap would be important as all I'm really trying to do is test the temp fluctuations in a plywood/foam chamber over a period of a few days.   To be honest I might as well just go ahead and use it for the short term as I'm ideally going to get sorted out with a fridge controller setup in a while.

I had a look on Ebay and there is one to suit all price ranges. And from what you say its the fluctuations you are looking to record rather than the actual so a least initially its the change you wish to measure ( or the lack there of) rather than the actual! Yeah??

As with any electronic device purchase ,pick the amount of money you are prepared to spend based on what you are trying to achieve and purchase within that budget.  and nowadays temperature measurement has gotten very good for very cheap so your only paying for the bells and whistles.

This would a great little Arduino project!

I actually made an attempt a while back at scripting a raspberry pi to interface with a USB Temper dongle.  It worked but I was neither convinced it was reliable or accurate.  To be fair I'll probably just work with what I have and concentrate on getting a fridge controller setup instead  :-\

I have one of these(slightly older model I think) http://www.dataq.com/products/hardware/el-usb-data-loggers/el-usb-1-data-logger.html
Its excellent, battery lasts a few years of operation but is about a tenner to replace

Ciaran

That might do the job nicely.   Thanks!
