1st post so hello everyone.

I was looking for a large cooler box for a mash tun for a while an seen this today so I picked one up.  Internal dimensions are approximately 50cm (length) × 32cm (width) × 32cm (height).  It also has a drainage valve which hopefuly will make installing a manifold easier.  It also has wheels.

Yep Home store and more have them each year. I have one to be converted one of these days.

Hmm, I have one of these and it was €25 when I got it  ;)
Have yet to convert but now that I'm back in Westmeath, I will be.

Did you get it in Homestore? Maybe end of summer offer?
Cheers

Yeah it was homestore and more about 2 years ago. Probably was a summer sale.

That's when I got my one as well. 25 as well. Couldn't walk by it at that price.

It's 49.99 now!... Just picked one up myself.
Great price for a 60litre one... Seems solid enough too. You find it holds the heat ok guys?

Shanna

Now down to €35, tempting.

Anyone buy one with the wheels know if they would cause any problems for converting to a mash tun?

There is a drain, but not all that impressed after the weekend. A crack has appeared in the bottom of mine after filling it with ice and cans/bottles for a bbq.... I think that's what they were designed for originally?! ie not really fit for intended use it seems?.... Thought surely the bottom would be strong enough to take the weight that 60 litres of space might result in.... Didn't notice until the following day when I noticed water trickling out from under it.

I bought one the other day, I noticed that a few seem to be damaged, and crushed. I examined the 4 they had and picked up the best one. I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll have to drill the lid and put in spray insulation, as it doesn't seem to be very well insulated. But its going to be a while before I move on to all grain.

some pictures I took of the 60l in NutGrove.

I was going to get a 26L but they were all badly scratched and cracked.

was just about to put up the photos but you beat me to it. The insulation isn't the best from looking at it.
I'm thinking of using the stainless steel covering from a tap connector, seen a few tutorials online where they use them, instead of cutting slits into copper pipe.

Grand for newbies but these dont hold the heat, will need a big duvet over the top and after a year or so it will start to look tired and you will grow out of it also, if you think you're going to be into brewing for the long haul, and if you can afford it. Get some steel!!
