Call for your Support from NHC Members at IBCF 4th to 7th Sept.

Last year the NHC had a fantastic show at the IBCF and firmly stamped the NHC name and positivity on the map. Our membership increased and we had in excess of 20 volunteers help talk brewing and beer over 4 days.

We had a Braumeister on show brewing beer, brewing equipment and small homebrew samples were given out for the general public to try from those that kindly donated beer.

Trust me there is nothing more amazing than seeing the surprise on someone's face when they see how good homebrew can be and even more so when the brewer is standing in front of them explaining with passion how it was brewed.

In partnership with our colleagues in Beoir, its our biggest expo event of the year to talk directly to the general public. We want again this year to continue to raise the profile of the NHC and flag up the many local associations around the country by encouraging more members join up and to get more folks homebrewing.

None of the above can be achieved without your support and so this year again we would kindly ask you to please donate ..

1)      Your time to talk brewing to the general public so please put your name down for a couple of the slots on the thread here (There will be benefits to those that offer their time directly.)

2)      Can you spare beer in a corny keg as in this thread Here your keg doesn't have to be full and we can even help on the logistics? The objective is not to pour pints but small samples for them and the Trade to appreciate different styles and brewers.

3)      We will probably boil some wort and hops on each day simulating brewing, the only stand in the entire hall to do so, has anybody spare or old ingredients to donate?

4)      Is there something else that we should be doing or worse still not doing this year? Over the years, the "can do" attitude of members towards projects never fails to amaze me and your input is valued, do you have an idea for our stand or promotion that you feel would help raise our profile? PM if required

I will not deny it is hard but enjoyable work for all involved but presents a great opportunity for us all to show off our skills and abilities, not just to the professionals at the biggest Micro Brewing Trade event of the year but also the general public.

Its gonna be mega - why not join the show !!

One thing we need to have on the stall are some beer kits and cider kits as well as the usual Tin of extract and bag of DME. Beginers always ask "what is the kit you are talking about when you mention a Kit and a Kilo"

True-

We could always do with another stir plate - people are always fasinated by the magnetic stir bar !

What about a new Guiness World Record:

"The most stir plates ever at a craft beer festival"

I have 2, James 1 - we could easily get about 20 or 30 on a table.

If you guys need some kits for the stand, I'd love to help. We are always trying to promote the homebrew revolution. If we can provide some basic starter kits and a few beer kits, you could maybe raffle them off on the last day?

Actually, thats a good idea - while we are talking to the punters , they could put email / name on the back of one of the business cards, put it into a jar, we could have a raffle just before we close up the stand at 09:30/10:00 - the only condition of winning is that you are physically at the stand at 9:30
Good way to get punters to the stand and everyone likes a free raffle !
Probably best to raffle each day as most punters dont go more than one day - Thanks a mil - great stuff.

On the day -

I'll bring the Braumeister / a stir plate and the Jars - if anyone has any old hops or a kilo of old grain - let me know, no point in buying fresh ingredients for the jars.
I'll bring a stir plate and perhaps beer fermenting in a 1 gallon jar so people can see an active fermentation.
I'll bug some light table cloths - that one always catches us out.
