Hi all, has anyone out there tried any of the Bruphoria series of kits? They seem to be a Homebrew Company own brand kit. I'd be interested in the Dead Phony, the Hip-Hop IPA and the Double IPA. Anyone know what type of hops they come with and what quantity?

I haven't tried the ones you listed but I did do their Orgasm IPA. Very tasty altogether. And great the way you can choose your own hops etc

Hi there,

I had bought the Dead Phony IPA (obvious clone) a while back, but with a toddler running around the house hadn't gotten around to brewing it. I recently dropped it around to my Father in law (who generally has quite mixed results with brewing) and he brewed it.
We were around for a BBQ last night in his house, and got to sample several of these. After not quite 2 weeks in the bottle all I can say is I could have drunk this all night. It is nicely bitter, has a nice hop aroma and is a beautiful amber colour. I'd give it a resounding thumbs up.

I've looked at that product series a few times but always moved on by. Why? Lack of information! There is zero information as to what is in the kit (with the exception of the Orgasm, and even that doesn't tell you what form the hops take). Does the Dead Phony IPA come with separate hop pellets? We don't know, because it doesn't say! Does the witbier come with flavouring herbs etc? Dunno! As reasonably premium priced kits, they really should let us know what's in the box. This isn't a pop at the HBC by the way; all of the usual suppliers too frequently do not supply adequate information on at least some of their products (and the amount of permanently out of stock items at HBW and GEB is maddening) - although one would think HBC would try to push their 'own brand' by highlighting all the relevant info. If the kits contain the same goodies as Festival / Youngs (hops, priming sugar etc) then they're very good value at the price - but we simply aren't given enough info to know this.

This is exactly why I haven't bought them. I want to know how much malt there is, how much hops and what variety they are etc. It's not asking too much to know what you're buying.

True. And they give plenty info on the other kits so it's odd that they don't give their own stuff the same attention. Still makes nice beer though

Hi,

We have put some information into these kits now to allow you to make a more informed choice. We have listed off the hops for each kit now. They are quite good kits and each one is packed fresh to order so you are getting the freshest possible beer kit out there. Hops are sealed in our tea bags and vac packed in alu foil with each pack.

"They are quite good kits"

i have not tried these kits yet. However "quite good" aint selling them to me. I'd recommend a big discount ;) on them for a few days get the ball rolling. The craft range seem to be ruling the roost in kit lands these days.....I'm fairly sure if you say they are good then they are.

@ HBC: If you want to fire a couple my way I'll be happy to brew and review them to get some solid info out there.

Why not a raffle for "acredited" raffle reviewers!

Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

The Homebrew Company

OK,

We have knocked off 10% off for the next few days if anyone fancies trying one. We will also offer one of each for a raffle if someone wants to set it up. Terms would be that the winner place an order and we would ship the free kit with that order.

Is this OK with the Mods?
