Sorcerers Apprentice

I was planning on an Amarillo Brew tomorrow, I have a fridge in my old shed where I keep some grains and hops and was surprised when I opened the door, everything was destroyed, it was a mixture of chewed grain and burst hop packets. Everything had to be thrown out. I was entrigued at how they had gotten in?
They burrowed through the condensation drain at the back and ate their way through the plastic floor above the motor

Time for the plastic bottle smeared with peanut butter with a coat hanger through the middle suspended over a bucket of water.

Or something I discovered a few years back, nooski, for the 2 rats the size of cats that come to my shed every year

Ooh be careful you don't have those navy seals type mice after you for killing their buddies,

Ain't those the things that were banned by the green when they were in government on cruelty grounds?

It's a pity it doesn't chop their four legs off and leave them dying slowly for at least a week, then I'd buy a few of them !!
I also have two glen of Imaal terriers who are looking at a long visit to the dogs and cats home for sleeping on the job
It just goes to show you can't be too careful, particularly if the fridge is not checked regularly (That will teach me to take a long holiday)
I reckon I will modify the back of the fridge with some punched louvre plate like this stuff or else some fine heavy duty mesh to keep the little feckers out

You really don't like mice. I'm totally anti-cruelty, but when a rat invades my home it is a death match, so I feel you. Our cat and a rat sized each other up, and the rat felt it preffered it's chances with me. Fecker.

We use two of the electronic ultra sonic rat repeller machines from the co-op. Work a treat. Sometimes you hear one come into the attic, but they get a headache and piss off in short order. Twenty quid. I've one in the attic and one downstairs to be extra safe. And they enjoy behind the fridge because it's warm.

You're right Tom I hadn't thought of an ultrasonic unit, it'll save me a lot of effort

I've read a good few reviews of these devices and the jury seems to be out regarding if they actually work?
We used to have them everywhere in the brewery years ago, but they use baiting points now, that's why I hadn't thought of them. Do they actually work?

They work for me. Pestclear from http://pestclear.ie/. Like I say, the rats occasionally scratch up in the attic, but only for a couple of minutes. They can't bear the noise. It's ultrasonic directly in front of it, but it also sends out magnetic things using the wires around the house. Very clever. I was sceptical at first, but.

My parents have one in their house (different make) and although it works, you can actually hear it squeak when the house is quiet, so I'm pleased with the model I have.

Bating points kind of invites the rats in, in my opinion. I'd rather they fuck off to begin with. I wonder if you can get a machine that records your voice telling the rats where to go, then shifts the pitch up a dozen octaves, and then plays that back at them...

Sorcerers Apprentice

Fair enough, I will hoover out the fridge leave some poison in it for a few days and then get one of your lads, to keep them away

They were banned but got approval and they are less cruel than poison
I can hear the ultrasonic units!

What about one of these lads

In between naps and grooming this particular model operates in super stealth mode

Sorcerers Apprentice

Believe it or not his exact double arrived into the garden this morning but the stupid dogs have chased him off !!
