Polypins/fill your own from Irish Breweries?

Just wondering if folks know if any of the Irish breweries offer polypins or a fill your own facility?  It's common in the UK to get small kegs (polypins) of real ale for an occasion.  Another option is to bring your own jerrycan to be filled, although this is more common for cider.

It would be handy if you wanted a particular style and didn't have time or notice to brew it yourself.

As usual in this country they would need another license for this >:( :(. I am sure that they would do it if you approached them though but not officially ;)

The brewers' license does allow the selling of pins from the brewery. 4.5 gallons is about 20 litres. Big polypin, though!

Of you could collect two dozon quart bottles (litres?) from the brewery.

The UK rules are a lot effin' better.

I don't know about that!  I emailed a few before incl some up north and no one knew what I was talking about.  Getting a corny filled  would be pure handy though.

Wholesale Quantities

Beer Dealers

A District Court Certificate is required for the grant of a new Beer Dealer's Licence.

The Licence authorises the sale of Beer in any quantity not less than two and a quarter gallons to a person who is Licensed to sell beer by Retail, and in any quantity not less than four and a half gallons or two dozens reputed quart bottles to any other person.

Spirit Dealers: Wine Dealers: Sweets Dealers

A Court Certificate is not required for the grant or renewal of a Licence to sell Spirits, Wine or Sweets in wholesale quantities. A Licensed Wine Dealer is entitled to deal in Sweets without taking out a Sweet Dealers Licence.

Definition of Sweets. The term "Sweets*" means any liquor which is made from fruit and sugar or from fruit and sugar mixed with any other material, and which has undergone a process of fermentation in the manufacture thereof, and includes British wines, Made wines, Mead and Metheglin.

A Spirit Dealers or Wine Dealers Licence authorises the sale of Spirits or Wine, as the case may be, to a person who is Licensed to sell Spirits or Wine by retail in any quantity not less than half a gallon, and to any other person in any quantity not less than two gallons or one dozen reputed quart bottles. In the case of Spirits, the minimum quantities may be made up of different denominations of Spirits. A Sweet Dealers Licence authorises the sale of Sweets in any quantity not less than two gallons or one dozen reputed quart bottles.

For duty payable please see Excise Rates.

Am I the only one who loves this really archaic use of language, and gallons ffs!!  Isn't it against EU law to use only imperial units anyway?

One dozen reputed quart bottles!  Can a quart bottle be of good or bad repute :P?

No argument here.  The minimum sale is also problematic for corny users as its 20.46L so 1.46L of waste
[4.5UK gal= 20.45740L].

However if you buy it in quart bottles you have to buy 6 gallons i.e. (27.7L).

Anyway I take it this is something that people haven't done since the days of the corncrake and travelling tailor?
