Bottling From A Corny Keg At Room Temperature.

Can i bottle from a carbed keg at room temperature and if so what effect will that have on the beer once bottled ? I just counted up my swing top bottles i have sanitizing and i only have enough for one batch and i don't want to use them on the keg i have chilling in the fridge atm,but i have another one carbed up only it is not chilled.  ;D

Do ya have a beer gun?, if not the beer will just go flat in the bottle and oxidize

If the beer isn't cold I can't see you getting it into bottles to be honest. All you will get is foam

Decided to bottle the chilled keg instead to be on the safe side. ;D

I bottle only from room temperature kegs. Purge with co2 first, then hook up the beer line and slowly release the pressure in the bottle.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

What is the pressure like in the keg? 20psi or more?

Tried few times getting a bottle filled straight from the kegerator tap - beer/foam, half and half, was I lucky.

About 20 psi, yup. I have a rubber bung on the end of a carbonation cap. Pressurise the bottle from the co2 tank, then connect in the beer line to the cap, followed by pinching the rubber bung to release the pressure so it very slowly fills.

It's the same as a counterflow filler, just really low tech. Also, standard warning of it's a glass bottle you are filling with co2, so if there's a crack or weakness there it could shatter and do harm.

what's the point of the bung? Because as soon as you remove it to apply the cap any pressure will equalise, no? So you're relying on co2 to be in solution anyhow?

My method is even lower tech. A party tap with a bottle length of tubing. Fill with the beer carbed and cold and the bottles cold. I get very little foam. TBH it's not great from the point of view that I don't get a pop when I open a cold bottle. But I don't see what bottle guns do differently other than purging the bottle initially.

When bottle gunning you need to have your beer and gun and bottles cold
The co2 is in solution already and you put it in using the gun a only  3-5psi.

Don't have a kegerator still, so my kegs are always warm.
The bung is to stop it foaming as you fill, as the container is pressurised.

I dont use a bung just bottling wand stuck into a party tap, make sure the beer is well carbed and everything is sanitized, vent the chilled keg and drop serving pressure to about 3 psi and bottle away. I have done maybe four batches like this now with no issues in the bottle afterwards. I do it this way because it works for me and the beers were consumed relatively quickly. Also i have only done this a few times when i needed to empty a keg fast for another brew.

I dont chill the bottles but i do crash chill the keg for at least three days first.

Has anyone every tried 'over-carbing' the beer so that it, theoretically, loses a bit of CO2 when bottling resulting in a target carbonation?

Seriously though the handful of batches i have bottled off the keg i have overcarbed them all,then vented and let sit for 15mins,then back on gas at about 3psi and away i got bottling. :D
