Adding more sugar to a tripel

Hi Lads,

I brewed a Tripel with 12.5% sugar and ended up at 1.070 OG. Is it worth adding 350 grammes more sugar to get the OG up to 1.075 (bring total sugars up to 16%) or would this just make it too thin and boozy do you think?

Thanks,

Gerryjo

I take it you haven't added your yeast yet so rather than sugar could you not steep another kg of grains and boil for 20 mins, cool and add.

WLP550 is on day 5 of fermentation. I already added .5 kg of spraymalt  after I pitched the yeast to get the gravity up to 1.069 - originally it was 1.064.

Good idea though - could it work still I wonder?

If you finish at 1.008 thats still over 8% which is tripel territory. Adding more sugar will make it taste too sweet I reckon

I wouldn't go messing with it any more.

Thanks lads. 8% is more than enough for me - not sure if I've made more of a Golden Strong now though. Will leave it as-is.
