Do you dry the grains first? When using them for bird food?

When I made 20 gal batches, the local waterfowl used to benefit from an odd fly tip into the canal. Now that I am up to 16kg biab grists I can't even get the grain out of the flat!

Pheeel

I made this a couple of months ago. The dog wasn't too fussed about them...

I dry them for about 15min in the oven before I but them in the bird feeder or on the bird table

I feed half of to my hens straight out of the mash tun. Both the hens AND the dog tuck in as soon as it hits the ground! I used to give it all to them, but I found the my hens would sometime get sick (a 'sour crop' if your in the know)

Have tried drying the grain in the past to make bread from it but it took way too long to be bothered. Tried making bread from the wet grain but could never get it to come out right.

Currently giving the spent grain to a few people I know for their chickens.

DEMPSEY

Chickens will eat it and sometime maybe but pig's love it and it makes for great bacon after. ;)

Too much for chucks makes eggs thinner my neighbour told me?

LordEoin

i think it makes the shells thinner because they're not getting any grit, vitamins, etc thats all added to feed normally.
Once in a while wont hurt them though.
My dog loves the treats, but there's a lot of work in them.
