I'd be interested, but I would need more details (a more concrete date and location).

Off-topic but heading to Portugal this summer so would really appreciate some Homebrew/beer contacts, if possible!

Where are you heading to in Portugal? I'll be there for 10 weeks from mid-June to mid-August. I can show you the sites.

Hi John,

Thanks for your interest in the portuguese beer competition.
This year it will be held in three different cities: Lisboa, Porto and Coimbra. It'll be the 5th edition and we're expecting to have around 100 beers, divided into three categories: Lager, Ale and a featured style.

We are still in talks about the dates but i expect something around late October, beggining of November.

If you have any more questions or need further information, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,

Bruno Aquino

Wow, 100 entries - people aren't kidding when they say the Irish comp is actually pretty big!
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

This was the format of the competition in October too. They had ales, lagers and DIPA as the featured style. The featured style was the only BJCP judged category if I recall correctly.

Yeah it shows what a great achievement it is for our club to be able to run such a comprehensive competition. Someone mentioned recently that it is the largest home brew competition in Europe.

Morning all,

I've been chatting to Bruno and the dates are set for this competition. It is being held over three different dates and three different venues.

Only the Porto leg will be registered for BJCP.

If you are interested please let me know and I will pass on your details to Bruno.

See if anyone is interested in some of these panels (only the Porto leg will be BJCP!):

28 October - Hamburgueria B&B (Portimão, Algarve) - category: Lager.
30th & 31st October - Cerveteca (Lisbon) - category: Ale
4th November - Catraio (Porto) - category: British Brown Ale
