Dean McGuinness mentioned this to me as it will be of interest to brewers and beer lovers...or possibly even for that person in your life who needs to love beer for the sake of your relationship.

There is a beer tasting dinner being held in the Bierhaus in Cork on May 24th and Farrington's in Dublin on May 23rd.

Matt Licklider from Red Hook Brewery in Seattle will be host for the night.  The night will consist of a range of different courses paired with the beers being imported, with Matt telling some stories, explaining the beers and answering any questions that people might have.

The tastings at the Bierhaus are €25 with 8 beers and a two course meal. There are two sittings 6-8pm and 8.30-10.30pm  https://twitter.com/BierhausCork/status/332115924893188097/photo/1

Farrington's will be selling a limited number of tickets to their dinner at 6pm (€45 per ticket, 5 courses), and also tickets to a further tasting in the evening (€25 – consisting of a tasting of a range of American Beers, and a buffet-style food offering for the night).

Sounds like a great night out with a chance to ask questions and be guided by an American pro brewer.

Does the dinner include the 8 beers for €45.

It's 8 samples I think, not sure how big they'll be!

Kinda half interested in heading!

Rossa

Yep. Wouldn't say they will be 8 full beers though  :P

Hop Bomb

Id love to go. Dunno if my better half would though. Id feel like a dickhead going on my own. If there are other guys going on their own let me know & we can share a table  ;D
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

LordEoin

and the loneliest post of the year award goes to hop bomb!

I wonder would SWMBO be pissed that I tricked her into going to a beer tasting talk or happy that I brought her out to dinner...

If I make it along to this! Are you heading to the 6 o clock one for the eight tasters?

Who else is going along, I wouldn't like to get stuck there with Hop Bomb, he sounds a bit needy :D

I'll probably end up going if they still have tickets the next time I wander in there!

Hop Bomb

Im not needy. I just dont want to get stuck at a table with some beer nerds I dont know & their bored wives.   :P

@Cork lads, anyone going?
Eoin, bring your other half and I'll bring mine. 6 to 8 session for me, kids etc.

LordEoin

I'm expecting a baby to fall out of her at any stage from around that date, so i'm out for sure

(Flashback to Monty Pythons Meaning of Life)
Sure that means she could do with the night out, can do the driving, and you can have her beer. What better way to celebrate impending fatherhood. Winners all round!

If BabyEoin hasn't bungee jumped by then, you'd get 16 beers and LadyEoin would get 2 dinners. It's might be worth a gamble?

[edit] johnrm beat me to it! [/edit]
