I've tried my hand at fly fishing a few times and an old regular actually gifted me a rod but I'm not very good-keep losing flies on the back swish thing haha

I know a guy who used to fly fish alot,had all the gear including the clothes,looked like an extra from the film where John Wayne knocked the ballix out of Walter mc'Clackin(the quiet man). One day while fishing in Wicklow a bus load of tourists stopped on the bridge up the river from him to take pictures and of course trying to show off his skills,hooked the tree behind him. never wanting to upset the tourist trade he pretended it did not happen and kept casting and swishing away till the fpokin bastards got back on the bus.

hahaha Fair play to the ambassador! Speaking of The Quiet Man, we used to holiday in Cong every year where it was filmed and fished quite alot on the Corrib on an ickle little rowing boat. The camp site we stayed on showed the film every night in a little mini cinema also so i pretty much know the feckin thing inside out!

I like fishing in howth for mackeral. although you dont catch much these days. still fun though. I'm going fishing in waterford in August. Have a boat booked. If anyone drops out I'll post here to see if there is any interest..

Last time I went out on a boat I spent most of the trip chucking up, and we caught nothing on the day either. That was out of Wexford.
