Enjoyed last Friday so much, I thought I'd get the ball rolling for July!

I'm assuming the 11th's out....

On the ball! I like it!

You could get a poll on the go?

matthewdick23

we had had some chat about an equipment build day.  my house is out unfortunately.

there had been one or two offers of a house potentially to use. ill follow that up

what do others think? something we should do in July? anyone up for hosting?

august is the hilden beer festival- I think it'd be good if that was our meeting for that month.  I'll see about maybe hosting a table there

thoughts?

Hilden Beer Festival sounds good.

Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to offer for this month.

iain_todd

Nah I can't host anything like.

Also, Shano was saying about organising a social with the Dubs for the Hilden fest. He said they'd try and organise a cider stop-off in Armagh on the way, then take the mini bus up to the Hilden Fest. But would be great if we could organise a table at the festival - banners, leaflets etc.

A table at the festival would be great!

Unfortunately we couldn't host a meet - probably too far from Belfast anyway!

matthewdick23

other option for using a house doesnt work this month

so any other ideas apart from an equipment build day?

Bill_00

Something to put onto the list for future...

How about a hop swap? If anyone has any non-standard hops in the freezer or whatever, would be a chance to people to get a bit of a sample before risking cash one something that may be rotten!

matthewdick23

that reminds me, shane gave me a big bag of brambling cross hops for us to use as a club- next brewday we do together

I've just posted RE Andy's supermarket cider.

Supermarket apple juice cider was the first thing I brewed, and it seems to be quite common.

I suggested perhaps a supermarket cider competition would be a good idea...

We're all given six weeks to make a few batches of cider and we then meet to vote on the winner.

The stipulation could be the cider can only be made using supermarket juice - with a minimum of 50% apple juice.

We could see what interesting concoctions people come up with, as obviously the range of supermarket juices and blends nowadays is quite broad - blueberry, pineapple, cherry etc.

What does everyone think? Might be a good way of encouraging those who haven't yet brewed anything to give it a try...

Cider competition sounds good!

Other than that maybe a 'kit hack' demo?

matthewdick23

im in for the cider.

should we do a normal hudson meet, then, with cider as focus?

do a thread to vote for date?

iain_todd

Do you mean as well as the normal meet up or make the normal meet up cider focussed?

I might have a bottle or two of strong cider to take to the next meeting...
