Capital brewspace - corny kegs

How many kegs do we need?

Say we have 12 members... Maybe it's best to have a poll on who will become members first...

So if we own a brewspace where we can go and brew, how many kegs would we need?

Say as a club we brew 40l batches, that's 2 cornies per batch. At any given time what would we need?
4 pouring/ready to go
4 cold conditioning
4 spares

12 kegs?

Padraic

Forgot to add, should we have 4 taps in a keezer type setup?

12 cornies (€660) disconnects (€50) taps (€200) gas bottle (€40) regulator (€?)

After listing that I'm wondering if I am aiming for us running before we can walk?

CARA

I'll provide the gas bottle, well a fire extinguisher which can be altered anyway. I'm sure if we kept an eye on eBay for the taps something would show up and the corneys are an investment which we will get our money back on so I'd say your pretty realistic there.

What way would we do this financially. Is it something one would "buy into" ?

I think it'd have to be a buy in sort of relationship, with a monthly fee for rent, electricity etc. I'd say somewhere in the region of €250-300... We'd need to iron out costs and a venue etc!

This thread is to see how much it would cost for a corny setup, ill start a couple of other threads about essential equipment...

Rossa

I know the club has no policy but asking for a contribution at a brew demo, or running a how to class could help towards financing things.

Padraic

That's a great idea rossa! We could do a demo or two to pay for things!

Im all for group equipment and brew space, sounds great.  Whats the idea with the cornies?  Just to have beer on tap at meets and brew days?

Shane Phelan

I suppose if you are paying €20 (Made up figure) to attend a brew day at least you would get pints out of it. I don't know at what point you are entering shebeen territory with that though.

Nail on the head, my idea is a homebrew space that is what you'd live in your back garden but instead shared and in a central location instead...

Suits me in my 1 bed apartment!

Easy solution: no free pints ;)

Would the eco kegs be worth a look. Thom might be able to sort us out? If they are 30l then we could be in business.
