Just to let ye know the Fran Well will be hosting the general cert in brewing and distilling course again in September. The course needs to be booked through taste4success or skillsnet. The course is free for anyone who is on jobseekers.

I did this course in February and found it very good from a networking point of view as much as a learning point of view. I feel that it was worth my hard earned cash and annual leave but it is not essential for you to be able to pass the exam. So if you just want to get the general cert you might be better off just studying the IBD material if you can't afford the course.

General Certificate in Brewing and Pasturisation-  Venue  tbc.  We have been requested by our member companies to run the General Certificate in Brewing and Pasturisation  in the Autumn,  the dates are Monday 9th – Friday 13th September. The programme runs over 5 days and will take a maximum of 20 trainees and a minimum of 8 trainees (please note that the cost per trainee is based on the number of attendees, so the more attendees, the lower the cost per person).  Cost based on 8 trainees = 1,250 per person;  10 trainees = 1,000 per person;  15 trainees = 820 per person; 20 trainees = 720.  Each value includes a fixed cost of 325 euro for registration/certificate with the IBD, UK.  A funding level of 20% will be applied to the final costs of the training – based on the actual number of trainees attending.  So, if there are 10 trainees, cost per person = 1,000 less 20% funding = 800 euro per person.   Registration Cut off date:  tbc- For registration for November Exams / Certificate with IBD, UK.  Venue:  It is planned to hold the training at a Southern member venue – unless there is clearly a larger group from another area.  If we have sufficient numbers we may be able to run two programmes in two different locations – Open for bookings
Course Details:  This Certificate in Brewing and Pasturisation is open to employees working in the food and drink sector, or to sole traders operating a micro/home brewery.  Job seekers may apply for a free place – subject to availability.  Please note that we cannot accept individuals to the programme or individuals whose employer is not a member of the Taste 4 Success Skillnet.
I'm not going to bother tidying up the mess of that quote from the Taste4success website.
