We had a conversation with TOG last night when filling the barrel. The place next door to them is still in use and it is more of a dumping ground for their neighbours who use it to leave their old promotional props in case they need them again.

Rent would be approximately €1000/month for somewhere the size of TOG and the rates for a place with their facilities (Toilet, kitchen etc) could be up to €1000/month in addition to the rent. They are registered as a charity so do not have to pay that level of rates, I don't know if we would be able to do that anyway.

In reality we would be starting somewhere small unless we share with someone.

Also I think a few of us are going to have to commit to joining TOG. We have been saying "yeah yeah will join soon bla bla" for ages now.

I even have the form filled out!

I think as much as becoming members we should start getting involved in the other things they are running over there. (I must learn how to pick locks!)

It's a pity the place across will not work out, 2,000 a month would be a bit on the pricey side to be sure, but our own space would be great...

It could be fantastic. It would be perfect for group buy storage, demos, projects, yeast bank ..you name it.

2k a Month, jeez, I thought the NHC motto was "We can get that for nothing"!

Bubbles

Jesus. Even 1K a month is a considerable chunk of cash for having the convenience of a clubhouse.

Is the NHC funding this from subscriptions, or are the Capital Brewers going on a solo run?

Ciderhead

Are you on crack ;D !
Thats a 100% solo run. Those guys are soo loaded, ooh to be a capital brewer  8)

Bubbles

'dem city slickers...  8)

Seriously though, assuming monthly rent of €1000 and rates of €500, and say membership of 20 (?) - you're going to be asking the CB members to come up with 75 bucks a month. :o

Shane Phelan

1k/year is a more realistic target to be honest.

This is what 400/month will get you...

2 mins from what is going to be my former house! Would have been perfect.

Seriously though lads, I think we'll need more members before a clubhouse can happen.

DEMPSEY

I think that a few club members who currently rent should get together and rent a house with a large garage connected to it. You can then have a clubhouse on tap (no your honour,it's not a shebeen, its a clubhouse in which we brew beer ;)).

Yep...but a joint venture could be the way.
