Hi lads got brew done came in a little low OG.
1.046 28l after mash and 1.085 24L after boil and LME.
It's not unusual to get lower efficiency with high gravity beers.
It happened to me once or twice :P
My trick is to keep some extra DME in spare or dark/brown/muscavado sugar.

Will_D

Just about to move into secondary.

Gravity is now 1.020

So Abv is 9.6%

Calories per litre 902 :)

Just invented a new High Energy Drink

Ok I'm a bit low to, I mashed in 5.5 kg of base malt to get extra couple of litres like will. should have  realised that my 95og was to low to dilute my wort up to 25L. And ended up with only 1.085

I mentioned this to a few of you on Tuesday night, but I think we are going to need a decent pump on the 1st of December to get the stout efficiently out of the cask.  Both Will and James have pumps (that may work) that they will look at and test.
Should we put out an APB to the club to see if anyone has something good?
I'm thinking of something like this Lidl electric pump that could be sanitised before hand.

If you remember it took us a fair few hours to fill the cask the first time and this time we want to empty and fill it in the same day.  My garage is not likely to be the warmest place to spend hours in December!  Have a think about it anyway.

Partridge9

Just out of curiosity - how much is that from lidl ?

Rats

Might get one of those for the transfer. Will know by next weekend.

Sent from the thingy in my hand.

I can't remember.  I remember being tempted but it wouldn't do hot liquids I think so I left it.  It would be ideal for our purposes now though.

Rats

Got a pump sorted for us for the cask.

How's everyone's brew coming along? Plan on transferring to secondary in the next day or two. Was a very strong fermentation but has stabilized and us settling out nicely now. Smells great and will
Only get better after dry hopping.

Everyone happy so far?
