Refractometer.

I was blown away with the ease of use of the refractometer recently at the "Epic Liffey Brewers Lambic Brewday©" and decided to get myself one for this weekends brews. It arrived today.

I have to admit that becuase of the need to cool etc and had gotten very lazy with numbers, and I'd only take an OG at the very end of the brew, the  refractometer was deadly for taking readings on the fly and I have to admit I'm a convert.

Mine has arrived at home anyway and will be used soon

Don't mean to put a downer on it, but I gave up on mine  Probably didn't perceiver with it long enough to get a good calibration (I might pull it out since, everyone is excited about them again)

I found it great for on the fly measurements whilst we were brewing. I'm under no illusions as to their shortcomings.

Just calibrate it with some bottled water before every use.. I can't understand how I lived for so long without one... I've only recently started to use beersmith.. Which again has been a revelation

I checked this out yesterday evening and mine only measures Brix, so it looks like I'm using Plato from now on, real brewers use Plato
