Emptying the South Dublin Barrel & Refilling it

Hi there

After a bit of discussion with a majority of the brewers of the South Dublin RIP at our meet last Thursday I was briefed with organising a date for the draining of the existing barrel.

I have decided to set a date of the bank holiday weekend to drain the barrel. The draining will also be the same day that we refill with English Barley Wine.

To aid the draining (I will start a separate thread for the filling) I need all principles involved to do the following.

1. Confirm availability and attendance over the May Bank weekend. Most likely to be the Saturday or Sunday night. Final choice of night will be dependent on majority availability. Please if your attending in person bring your pre labelled & sanitised keg with you or get in touch with me (if you don't have a car) and we can try figure out some collection.

2. If you can't come please arrange to have a sanitised keg dropped to my address in Blackrock in advance of the draining. The keg should be clearly labelled with your name to prevent it being mixed up. If you don't have any kegs please consider borrowing one. If you can't organise to get a keg then please consider a bucket.

Would hope people can do me a solid and make this easy on me by updating the thread to confirm.

I'd make a plea to anyone involved in either emptying or refilling to make an appearance at this thing. It's not a free barrel-aging service after all...

We can work the logistics of this out. I know you mentioned you had borrowed kegs. Is May too late for you to get your beer away or could I arrange to collect empty kegs and your fermenter and leave both in my place in advance. If you need an earlier emptying time we can work something out.

Just in case people have not received the PM or seen the thread about filling the barrel. Emptying will take place in my place on the night of Saturday of the 3rd of May from 21:00. If your attending with kegs please make sure they are labelled to avoid confusion.
