It is with great pleasure that the North County Brewers announce their summer competition:

NCB Competition
The theme is "I can't believe its not lager"

So we would want ales brewed to these styles (using Ale yeast): So we would want ales brewed to these styles (using Ale yeast):

Cat. 6:  Light Hybrids:

   6A:  Cream Ale
   6B:  Blond Ale
   6C:  Kolsch
   6D:  American Wheat or Rye

These would be entered as the style and judged as such.
The best of show would however be the beer that ticks all the boxes of the themes title

1.  Date:    Saturday 9th August.

2.  Venue:    The Old Boro in Swords

3.  Registered with and run to BJCP guidlines.

4.  Open to all NHC and Beoir members but NCB'ers get first chance to register.
Max of 2 entries per person. Entry fee: €2 per entry. 2 plain 500 ml bottles (crown or swing)
No entries will be accepted on the day! See Point 6 below re. collection
Kits will be allowed but you must state it on your entry, please use your initiative and hack away.
There are plenty of guidelines on the kit section on how to do this.

Winners will be required to share their recipe on the forum including method after the comp to
educate others on how to brew.

5.  Max entries: Limited to 50 or 60 entries (but we are flexible)
The beers will be collected about 1 week before the competition.
Entry registration will open to all on June 26th and Closes July 24th

6.  Collections:    Countrywide  collection points will be announced later but will be
collected in parallel with the Wicklow (Cider Heads) competition.
The cutoff date for collection is August 1st

7.  Judges:    We will want 4 BJCP judges and 4 other (novices)s to partner.
Already a couple of NCBer want to try their hand at judging so they would be given priority.
I know we could probably get 8 BJCP judges but we also need to grow the interest.
We will also need stewards about 4 will do it - they will also get BJCP experience points

8.  At present entry fee will just cover costs: registering, judges essentials, consumables and the like
Prizes are TBA but there will be only one prize per entrant, so if you brew 2 award winning beers
you get 1st prize and 2nd place awarded to next in Q and so on.
Naturally Medals or Certificates will be awarded as judged – so you could get 2 medals!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing
