Are we interested in wine barrel(s)? Will be getting the GBB casks for Endas sour next week. Can get us 1 or 2 if there is interest in filling it. 90e p/barrel. What do ye think?

Id go splits on one with someone if there isnt enough interest.

Grand job so. Il throw our hat in there for a barrel. I can cover it & get cash off ye when I see ye.

I guess the next thing is a beer style/recipe...  This is worth having a read of  http://russianriverbrewing.com/barrel-aged-beers/

Do we also have a whiskey barrel at Independent Brewing? AFAIK those barrels are green & yellow spot casks but Im open to correction. Another RIS for that barrel?

The independent barrel is gone I think.
Are these barrels fresh?
If they've been used maybe match a style to the type of wine they held.
Barley-wine?

Did this go ahead? I see GBB tweeting that they got some in.

Kellys in Tipp couldnt get their hands on any. Supply has dried up. GBB ones had to come from France.

Just a couple of thoughts, there are some Irish wineries that must have barrels.  In fact if you told them you wanted a barrel infected with Brett you'd think they'd be rushing to get rid of it.

Thomas Walk Vineyard, Kinsale, Co. Cork
Llewellyns Orchard, Co. Dublin
Longueville House

Another option might be to ask the new whiskey distillers if you could get a barrel from them?  There's the Dingle Distillery which are up and running, but maybe one of the big fellas like Cooley Distilleries would sell one?

For whiskey-making the barrels have to be retired after the second-fill as the wine character (in the case of sherry/port etc.) is gone at that point.
