A close shave

I got a gift set for Christmas two years ago, wouldn't go back to mach 3 or the like now if ya paid me. Bit more effort and time involved but well worth it.

I like a beard when the job allows but otherwise it's a straight razor or DE razor shave for me. The amount of brushes, creams, blades and vintage Gillette safety razors I have is disgraceful!

I switched to using one about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Cartridge razors used to rip the face off me and leave my skin all red and irritated, get a far better shave with the DE blades. Blades are far cheaper as well. Only downside is that it takes a bit more effort and time as you can nick yourself pretty easy if you try to rush it.

I normally buy Feather blades in bulk off ebay but Wilkinson Sword ones from the chemist do the job too. Started using shaving oil as well and find it's a lot better than the gels/foams.

I remember shaving. Gave that up. Had enough bad habbits.

I would suggest buying a styptic pencil before you try it. You do get a very close shave, and it's a really cheap way to shave, but I found it a bit tedious. I'm not all that coordinated in the morning, so a safety razor worked better.

DE copes with thick stubble much better than the multi-blade systems (which clog up) so if you don't shave often it's a good option.  I have one, used it for a year or so, then grew a beard.  I just don't like shaving...

I shave with one every second day before work and find it great, would never go back. If you try to rush you will cut yourself but you naturally get faster over time, it's months between each time I nick myself now.

I gave it a go and, blood-filled sink aside, its a great job.

I inherited the old Gillette razor.

Herself doesn't like me attacking her with any 'tache of note, so regular shaving is a must.
