You might want to give him a bell first to see if he is still alive as not seen or heard from him a a good long time.

@Greg2013; I've just asked Shane at THC if he'd order two for me as he's a distributor for Brouwland who do a nice one. He said they've been out of stock of late but Brouwland say they have plenty in stock now so see what develops.

Any idea on cost getting from UK HBS - I would be interested if THC can't mash the spuds ;)

Edit: Shane emailed me on 26 Nov that he's placing an order for me if you give him a shout he can add you to the order.

Parrot

Sorry to say nothing happened following the email from Shane at THC I mentioned on 26 November last, and I haven't managed to get any 60Lt Fermenters anywhere else either.

Shane finally replied to me today, after a number of emails in November, December and January, to say he didn't order them when he said he would because "they take up too much space on the pallet".  ???  I would have thought Browland would pack all the other stuff on the order into them so as not to waste space but that's the excuse I got today. He said he will order them for me next time but I won't be holding my breath.

What makes it more annoying is that I told Shane I would go over and collect them when they arrived because there's a load of other stuff I'll need for this year and wanted to root around his shelves to find exactly what I need and I still didn't get an answer until today.

Unreliable suppliers who tell you they'll get things for you when they've no intention of doing any such thing get right up my hooter. Why can they not just say, "Sorry, we finally sold out of those things and won't be getting them in again". At least then I wouldn't have spent the last couple of months thinking they were on the way to me.

Anyway, here I am, still without 60Lt vessels to brew in. Anybody got any spare ones? Reasonable price maybe! I'll collect almost anywhere at this stage and bring cash with me.

Packing a load of stock inside a fermentor wouldnt be the best idea. Any scratches will make it impossible to clean & sanitize properly.

Have you considered buying a plastic conical? http://www.tanks-direct.co.uk/cone_tanks   Get the sanitary taps & fittings from ebay china or aliexpress.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

Thanks for the suggestion HB.

Had a look at something similar from UK a while back and the cost was waay more than my budget allows at the moment - retired old fart and all that :-\

I'm beginning to think I'll have to wait uniil I'm going to Liverpool again, when the weather is nice, and bring the car to get what I need over there.

The things we have to do because of living on an island :-\

Have you tried Hop and Grape? They have them and in stock according to website (of course - budget permitting).

I got a couple of these a few years back and they are great. Good seals, easy to clean.

£66.60(88.64 euro) sterling inclusive of shipping for a single 60lt FV,i think this is what Parrot was referring to when he referred to ordering from UK not being an option for broke ass old farts like us.  :P

Thanks for trying but it's as Greg said :D :D I think it actually works out cheaper to get Brouwland to send them to me directly  :-\

I'm not giving up, I refuse to be beaten, someone, somewhere has a few they're not using and will hear my pitiful pleas soon....I've always been a 'glass half full' man. Full of optimism, although the wife often says I'm full of other things as well :-[

I hear ya brother,i only want a 35 litre version of what you are looking for and none of the HBS here have it either, seems to be that outside of a bucket FV they simply are not willing to stock anything which i can understand to an extent but where does that leave the rest of us,but of course i could get SS FV if i had a couple hundred euro to spare  ??? :P

€44.66 - the £33.80 was including the postage. The way I was thinking was if you were ordering some malt and hops with it would be an ok price.

Parrot

Actually, I was prepared to pay Shane at THC about €82 and The Malt Miller will send me two of their type with a couple of other bits I need and all for €84.36 inclusive. I think I can handle that. I'll just go and have a word with the boss, see what she thinks about the funds required ;)
