Found this with a quick google search..

Looks fairly managable for a fledgling brewer like myself. No messing about with SS false bottoms. Anyone see anything wrong with this design? Might give it whirl in the new year...

If you're looking for cheap and simple, BIAB is as cheap and simple as it gets

Kevin O'Roundwood

That's true I suppose. I have done similar in the past when making wine out of various things - big bag full of the raw materials - but never really liked it. Always found it really messy... Maybe I was doing it wrong!

I built this, it was very straight forward. I did one brew with evrything assembled, the one thing is that its prone to stick during the sparge. I eventually made a filter with holes in copper pipe, done very easy brews with the modified setup

Thanks Andy - so in the end do you only use the one bucket just with a load of holes in the copper pipe?

Small bazooka screen is as cheap as an extra bucket anyway, just get one of them.

Kevin O'Roundwood

Yeah I was wondering about bazookas actually - couldn't find any reference to them on this forum so thought they mightn't be used. So they work alright yeah? They don't get squished flat by the weight of the grain?

I use a 12" bazooka and its been absolutely grand for me, has never stuck even on wheat beers.

Kevin O'Roundwood

Cool, thanks Qs. Might give that a bash so. Are they flexible? Just thinking the bottom of the bucket is probably less than 12" so can you bend then round easily enough?
