Hey Peps, just wondering if any has tried any of these kits that have appeared on HBC and Homebrew west stores,
I'm particular interested in the Black IPA kit
https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/gozdawa-american-black-ipa-34-kg-makes-40-pints-p-2720.html
I can't find any reviews anywhere, in English anyway, they seem to be a Polish company.
Are there any Polish guys here on this forum, if so can they find any Polish reviews and let us know.
Tapped: Brown Porter, Dortmunder, Rye IPA
Bottled: Barrel RIS, Barrel Red Flanders, Oatmeal Stout
Fermenting: Barrel triple, NEIPA
Planned: Pilsner, Hazy Pale Ale, something Belgian

@Benji: Managed to find few Gozdawa reviews, none for black ipa :(
Decent kits but from what I can see guys are complaining about low gravity (OG:~1.044).
Also their IPA is not hopped enough and lacks of bitterness and aromas so would expect same in BIPA.

The Gozdawa Kits reviews on polish forums are mostly not very positive when compared to Coopers or Muntons. People are complaining about the brew not clearing for weeks, high FG, unpleasant aromas, sometimes metallic taste. On the other hand it seems like the above mentioned problems often disappear with time and lot of people enjoy them. Possibly patience is the key with those kits :)

Here is a link to one of the threads comparing Gozdawa to Coopers and Muntons Kits - Google translate will help or just ask me.

I turn water into beer. That's pretty badass.

I think the reviews you are looking at are for the Gozdawa 1.7kg kits (jakub might be able to confirm),
The Gozdawa Connoisseur are 3.4 Kg Beer kits and about a tenner more expensive so hopefully that would translate into twice the quality  ;D,
@ LordEion I have graduated, to extract brewing of late but I still look out for some new quality kits, I was planning on doing a BPA extract brew but then I seen this kit.
Dunno if I want to take a chance on ~€25 kit when I know I can make a decent extract for ~€30, but I is lazy innit and if I thought that this kit was good I would buy it.
Mmmm decisions decisions

Hi. New to brewing and have picked 2 Gozdawa kits to do next, a single can Pilsner, and a 2 can Irish Red Ale.
I used coopers brew enhancer 1kg plus 300g of brewing sugar and got the sg up to 1.044. Following the temperature instructions to the letter and have it fermenting at 16-18 degrees.
After fermenting it states to bottle and leave for at least 3 months, which i will do, but it sounds a lot longer than the other kits advise.
Maybe it takes this long to clear, dunno as it is only my 2nd attempt. Either way, any advise or otherwise, send it on and i will let all know how it is in June   ;)

@geterbrewed

We spoke to Maciej from Gozdowa about stocking these kits and he sent pricing but when we asked for a sample it didn't arrive, after reading the reviews are we glad we didn't stock this range. In our opinion its best to stick with Muntons for these kits

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it.
Has anyone tried one of these kits yet?

unfortunately googling for reviews seems to only throw up a handful of people tasting it after a week in the bottle and cheesy polish music like this:

Hello folks, first post here.  I got very excited when I saw these kits so I got the Dunkleweizen and the American IPA.  Three weeks in the bottle and the Dunkelweizen so far is dissapointing, and I normally drink my Wheatbeers young.  Can't quite put my finger on it but there is a slightly cidery taste from it.  Tastes like it was fermented at too high a temperature.  Fermentation stopped after just a couple of days.  I had to rock the fermenter and wrap it with a jacket and a hot water bottle to get it going again (weather was a bit cold at the time in fairness).  OG 1044 FG 1009 with no additions but the cans of extract.

Ill give it a bit more time before I completely make up my mind but not looking great so far.

The American Black IPA went on today so heres hoping that goes well.  No immense bitterness off the diluted extract anyway.  I may add my own hops closer to bottling day for a bit more flavour.

LordEoin

What temperature did you ferment the dunkleweizen at?

And welcome :)

18c.  Touched on 20c when the hotwater bottle and jacket was used.  Sometimes I think I just got a dodgy pack of yeast.  Maybe its just too early yet.   :-\

Right, I was just about to bottle my second Gozdawa kit and had to put everything on hold as the brew appears to have stuck.  This will be the second one that has not fully fermented properly.  I have done various other kits and never had a problem.  I don't think I will waste my time again.   SG of 1041 and now stuck at 1021.  What to do now...
