I am in need of 16 gram threaded CO2/NO2 bulbs for a keg charger, all i can find locally so far is non-threaded CO2 bulbs,i need both the CO2 and the NO2 bulbs. At a pinch the non-threaded variety of both might do but again must be 16 gram only. :o

For this charger below;

Greg,
NO2 is Nitrous Oxide aka. Laughing Gas, aka. Dental Anaesthetic

It is NOT Nitrogen and CO2 !!

NO2 is used in cream whippers! [maybe you ARE into whipped cream?  ???]

Just trying to save you money!

Hehehehe i know boss the cream whipper bulbs like below is what i am after,i have a full corny setup this is simply for say i have a pre carbed stout and i fancy dispensing with NO2 to get the Guinness effect, that's all and also to allow me portability if i wanted to bring a corny to a party or make a home brew for a friend that is not a homebrewer to gove him the corny pre carbed and he can use the keg charger to dispense.

I was getting something else on aliexpress at the time when i saw this and thought for 7.00 euro why not take a chance,it will for sure work with threaded co2 bulbs but it seems you cannot get the cream whipper no2 threaded anywhere. :(

Guiness is dispensed with a 25% CO2 and 75% N2 gas mix.

Lagers and Smithwicks are dispensed on a 50/50 mix of CO2/N2

if you put 50/50 on Guiness its Fekkd!

You can dispense L&S on 25/75

No one uses Nitrous Oxide!

The reason its used for cream whipper dispensers is that its very soluble in fats (i.e. dairy cream) so it disolves under pressure (like does CO2 in soda) and then when the pressure is released it foams up!

So why is it sold in home brew shops then in order to be used with the keg charger ? ;D

Errrr:

1. Because it fits ( as in its a standard size cartridge)
2. Its used in whippy creamers

3. The HB shops do not understand Chemistry/Physics/The gas laws*1

*1: the gas laws:
The only reason you can get 8 gms or 16 gms of CO2 or NO2 into a small "Sparklets Yoke" is coz' the gas is liquified.

If you filled one of these with pubmix (CO2/N2) at 220 bar ( NOT recommended) you would have about 2 lites of gas at STP

Just so i understand does that mean that the cream whipper N2O bulbs are useless in the keg chargers if you are looking to achieve the same effect as a proper nitro/co2 pub mix ?  :-\

In one word YES

I bow to your expertise Will D ;D

Oh well at least i can use the keg charger for threaded 16gr CO2 bulbs so not a total loss. ;D Where to get mixed gas and where to refill said tank, the eternal question that perplexes all Irish home brewers lol. ;D

If you are prepared to pay €1.50 'ish a week then get thee to BOC!

Otherwise, If you get hold of  a dodgy bottle (i.e. illegal) then you will find it hard to get it filled and probably you will be ripped off on the gas price. Asx in unknown quality and not filled to 220 bar!

The guy i get my co2 from in Mayfield does not do nitro mix and i have asked him a couple times,a little fire extinguisher size bottle would do me,can't believe it is so difficult to get. That said there is a local hardware to me that does welding gas supplies etc so may tap them up. ;D

What is the best ratio to get for stouts and the like ? ;D
