Suggestions for Brussels...

BavarianGal and I are off to Brussels later this week and are looking for a few suggestions for places to go and beers to try.  I have no doubt there are a few Belgian beer experts here so can anyone advise us?

We've been before and did the beer walking tour, Cantillon brewery visit etc. and have tried a few nice Dubbel/Tripels (we actually have a Dubbel in the FV at the moment, THC All-grain mash kit).  I'd like to pack my bag with a few beers on the way back if I can find something special!

Then you definitely have to go to Delice et Caprice, in the city center. Pub-wise, the usual Poechenellekelder, Moeder Lambic and La Porte Noire are a must. If you have time (and book in advance) a dinner at Restaubiere and a visit to Brasserie De La Senne complete a good trip :)

By no means a great beer bar(reasonable Belgium selection) but this place if worth a visit just for the creepiness. It's just off the Grand Place so not too far away.

I'm sure you'll be visiting the Delirium Café

God I'd go back to Brussels tomorrow!

Delirium was great. The red on tap goes down far too easily. Duvel triple hopped soriachi IPA wasn't too shabby either

Cheers for all the tips lads.  Last time I visited Delirium was a Saturday night  in December and the place was jammed, but I think it's worth trying at a quieter time... I remember being well impressed with a Delirium Mere Noel, and a bit unsteady afterwards!

I was in Brussels in May and it's my favourite place on earth, can't wait to go back next year.
As mentioned poechenellekelder is great, it was my favourite bar. Bon Vieux Temps is brilliant as well, you can get the legendary Westvleteren 12 here. Also Mort Subite has a good selection.
To be honest I didn't like the atmosphere in Delirium and found the staff to be quite unpleasant, however it is the best place for the really special beers.
I'm sure you're aware of the Belgian favourites, the trappists available everywhere, the Rochefort 10 my personal favourite, St Bernardus 12 also widely available and spectacular, Cantillon sours. Some other less well known beers I had in Delirium such as Struise Pannepot, Rodenbach Rouge, Girardin Black Label, 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze, all of which were wonderful.
I didn't have the same beer twice when I was there and I didn't have a single bad beer, however the selection is so vast you could waste time drinking average beers if you don't know what you're looking for.
Have a great trip!
Everyone has to believe in something, I believe I'll have another drink...

Cheers redshift. If we can get through most of the suggestions we'll be doing well.  There will be a bag full of beer (and some chocolate) coming home with us anyway to continue the research!
