Hop Trub Booze Machine....

Still a work in progress

Didn't have much insulation left over from the fermentation chamber but did have plenty wood. Anyone tried this for their keggles/mash tuns? Any idea how well it'll hold heat? There's one layer of that aluminium bubble wrap type insulation underneath the wood. Have to make the lid yet, will probably do something similar

Looks good, sure the floor that made it never suited the room.

I recognise that Keg. it didn't look like that when I gave it to ya, nice job!!
Mr Dempsey did the same and his are also quality, they have a coat or two of varnish. He is away at the mo but ping him next week and you can talk wood  ;)

Yerra found a bit of lino in a skip, that'll fill the hole in the floor nicely!

Ah yeah, is his the one from the 'Wolston Haven brewery' thread? That's where I got the idea from alright. Will have to put my thinking cap on with regards the finish. Oil or varnish... maybe even shellac....

I'd go with varnish. Something hard and glossy. Easy to clean.

Yeah you're right, a film finish is probably the way to go. Be easier to wipe off any stray wort/extract/tears.  :'(

I might be popping into ya again soon fishjam. Was in last week for the sealant but you were away

Work still in progress... slowly...

Trying to find some sort of band to wrap the wooden latts. Took a punt on this over-sized jubilee clip jobbie online but it's way too wimpy to give a good squeeze. Only 8 mm thick. Anyone know anywhere I could get something a bit stronger?

Before I hit on the duct band/jubilee clip idea I was planning on getting some copper or brass strips and tacking them to the latts but my usual go-to place for random bits of metal only sells them in 300mm lengths. Dose.

Again, if anyone knows where I can get longer strips of copper/brass/aluminium I'd appreciate it!

Where are you based?

In Dublin give these a call:

http://www.jameshealy.ie/

They can guillotine strips off of 2m long sheet
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Ah good man!

I'm in Roundwood in Wicklow so grand and close
