Irish Water Testing Companies For Home Brewers.

We really need an Irish company to test house water with that won't rob our eye teeth,something along the lines of Murphy's Labs in UK,my own house water needs testing again post filtration.

Note: If it costs anymore than €50-€60 then it is too much and you would be better off going with Murphy's Labs in UK.

Murphys works out at about 40. Posting the sample is about 8.
So under 50.
The resulting report is very useful. If there is a cluster of AG brewers on the same supply it makes sense to have everyone pitch in.

Exactly and there is no good reason an Irish lab could not do the same for say 50-60 euro max,otherwise it is not a viable option for yearly water testing.

There are lots of labs around Ireland.
One such lab is BHP in Limerick.
I got a quote from then for a far more extensive analysis than Murphys, it was over 100 as I recall.
I will check through my email and see if I interpolate a Murphys equivalent.

Yes see over €100 is out pf price range i am willing to bet that most home brewers would be ready to part with.

If you read my post you would have seen that that was my plan.....I'm just trying to be helpful, I know the price seems too good to be true but no harm in asking.. Bit less of the sarcasm please

Fewer tests means a reduced cost.
If you are keen on getting tests at regular intervals maybe you should look towards a collection of Salifert kits, why not do analysis for other brewers?
You should definitely contact a number of labs (only 2 mentioned above) and get quotes for similar tests.
Have you approached labs yet? There's not much point in moaning about the cost if you haven't done the homework.

I fail to see how that was sarcastic,i was merely suggesting you ask them what exactly they test for as it would apply to home brewing re mineral analysis

I was merely making the point that while it is a more extensive test it is still quite a lot of money,i would like to get the water here tested at least 2-3 times over the course of a calender year as the quality is so up and down,some days it stinks of chlorine,some days its fizzy cloudy,and other days it's fine,but always that yellow colour.I don't know what is going on with the water here tbh and yes i would love to get a more extensive analysis done.

I have looked at those salifert kits and tbh you would need to get several different one from what i can make out to test for all the minerals that would apply to home brewing,i don't know what it would cost because i don't know all the pertinent kits.


Maybe someone would care to draw up a list of all the relevant Salifert kits you would need to effectively test your household water for brewing analysis and is there one place that sells them all ?

In fairness, all the options have been spelled out above. All of these options are open to you except for clubbing together for analysis as I don't believe there are other brewers on your supply.
Analysis is going to cost no matter how you do it, which route you choose is entirely up to you.

Very true i am very much flying solo here,i did post up the results i received from Murphy's Labs last year but like you
say i am the only one on my supply so largely irrelevant to most tbh.The standard Murphy's test for £50 does leave some things out though so i wonder would i be better to pay for the extras or is that BHP crowd a better option Johnrm ?

John if you could dig out that quote from BHP so i could compare to Murphy's i would really appreciate that thank you.
