I wish I could afford this and get myself into all grain.

There are much cheaper alternatives than this for all grain.

Check out the BIAB method. Or the Uncle Ben's method as I a mate and myself like to call it.  :D It's basically the same method as the Grainfather uses but just less automated and less shiny!

Guide on How to BIAB

Also check (Google) Maxi-BIAB, stove top brew & full volume mashing

[edit: apologies, didn't mean to derail For Sale post, didn't look at topic head when replying on Tapatalk]

Seems like I broke the rule on spoiling or at least that is what the seller complained about. Even though my post was to highlight that the poster who had already stated that he could not afford the item for sale that there were alternatives out there that he could pursue.

It was a for sale thread not a discussion thread :P
If you want to highlight how much cheaper you can brew for that definitely wasn't the place to do it  :(

Apologies to the seller! Sounds like Inky couldn't afford
It anyway  :P

Your right of course just a little miffed at being pulled up indirectly :) It was not my intention to put the buyer(s) off or try & damage the sellers prospects. Storm in a tcup.

Maybe not your intention, but it could put doubts in peoples minds. Its a good piece of kit and the first I've ever seen come up second hand. If it was my add I would have been pi#@ed off with your post.

Just out of interest, how cheap is BIAB?

Covey

i Bought something similar to this. Yesterday i made a  AG pale ale and got 24 litres @1.051. so for 60/70 quid you can do BIAB (wort chiller will set you back 30 quid if you build it your self). It can be done very cheaply and produce great beer IMO. Never mind the easy one vessel clean up.

It holds a boil alright as long as you dont mess with the dial once its up and running. Ive never used it outside but i'm fairly certain it would work. I usually do a batch sparge, using the cooker to heat the sparge water (10/15)L. Ive insulated mine with a gym mat and it hold the temp well for a Hours mash. another good point about this one if its the same as mine, the Element is sunken beneath the vessel floor with a removal lid to clean the element. The dead volume is about 1/2 litres. I did have a three vessel system on the go but found it more labour intense and wasn't too happy about using Gas indoors. I think aldi or lidi do something similar for time to time.

I bought this mashtun/boiler and it work great for me.

I upgraded the cheapo thermostat with a PID though which allows more precise temperature control.
