Thanks everyone...I like vlogging...I setup a website for my brewing adventures www.johnniebongo.com I'm going to put up a blog post and a video everytime I brew...its a great way to learn from mistakes...one thing I found this time was to pre heat the mash tun before adding the strike water...I had been missing my Temps by a couple of degrees but this helped

Also check the temp of your grain and adjust your strike water, especially with the cold weather now upon us

Before you start down Herms or rims route and you will get there boiled kettle or bag of ice sorts you out in a hurry

Just watching the level on your kettle  coming up the boil, for the stout.

You can use commercial anti foam products to keep that to a min, wouldn't be a fan myself. Simpler solution is mister with water, not your starsan one
