Been doing a bit of it myself lately - but my shopping list is a stainless steel eklectric double oven, extractor and gas hob.
Getting a bit sick of looking at them between that n adverts n buyandsell.
Any other sites i should be looking at?
Formerly JamesM.

newToBrew

dunno tbh - they're the main ones I use for browser shopping !
I find the buy & sell one to pretty poor nowadays though

spotted this one yesterday

Barrels in Waterford

Probably give him a ring over the weekend and pick up one for a grain store, if it's fit for purpose - air tight ,rat proof - didn't previously store acid or whatever ....
@Spud - I've heard you mention that you use something similar & store it outside is that right ???
I have a nice little outside spot for it - if such a method is a runner !!!
coz theres always something new to do

DEMPSEY

How about this mobile tank with temp control.

re: Barrels in Waterford ->
Contacted Dude today:

Only Seems to have 50 Litre ones Left at the Moment,
Reckoned that they might not be fully airtight- said a buddy put a tube @ the top then stuck on the lid and uses it in the water - something to do with kayaking - figured that made it watertight at least

Also, said they came from Some Factory & stored packaged tablets, so nothing  dodgy really touched the insides as such,
probably gonna drop over in next day or so and take a look
Also Said he'd make a call and see of he could get some more of the 120 litres

tenner for the 50 Litre
18 for the 120 Litre

So Guys - thoughts & opinions as to using it as a grain store ?

As long as they haven't been used for the storage of chemicals (solvents especially)or oils and there is no obvious smell when you stick your head right in :o. Try and smell one with the lid not taken off.
Those HDPE bins can absorb smells/vapours if exposed for a long time, but as tablets usually have coatings to prevent migration so you should be fine.

Quotethe larger one had mannitol powder in it.
Sweet !!!! ;D ;D

Sorry Couldn't resist !! ( Actually had to google  mannitol powder)

Ah only spotted this now Damien, yeah I use a 60L blue barrel with a snap ring closer on the lid (made up that term just now) Keep it in the shed and not had a bother with it.
Mine was previously used for pharmaceuticals.
I leave the grain in the bags anyway.
In the 60L barrel there is room for a full 25kg sack a few bag ends (5-6kg) and what ever specialty grains I have, with ease
Non modo......sed etiam

cool - thanks shane - gonna drop by that dude over next day or so - some random thought went through my head what wit hthe frosts and what not recently - thought that outside might not be good for the grain - then remebered someone mentioning a chicken run !!!
either way the 30 odd kilos of grain need to come outa d closet so to speak !! ( really gotta brew more often !)

Cathal O D

Anyone know what the blue barrels are made from, i.e. are they food grade?
Could they be used as frementors?

newToBrew

i was thinkin along those lines too - fv use - tried ringing the dude today but couldnt get throug i hope to drop to him on my lunch break tomorrow - he did mention making some enquiries into getting the 120 litres again - should I ask @ group buy prices ????

would there be an interest ?
