Both the elements from the HLT are out and soaking in a bucket of caustic in the bottom of the bath, gloves and eye protection were used. Its removing the crud but very very slowly, tbh the citric acid boil while they were in the keg always did a better job and faster too.

Plans are afoot with my m8 to change the whole setup, the HLT is aluminium and now that the elements are out i am retiring it to be repurposed somewhere down the line for non brewing purposes. The current stainless keg boiler will now be the new HLT,and for my new kettle i am finally going to get that big arse SS stock pot out of the attic that i actually forgot i had.  ;D

The elements are from Charlie Shiels in Dublin,i have a friend picking them up and dropping them off to me. The valve i already had on my old HLT so that is going on the new kettle. The stock pot above is going to be my kettle not my HLT so no need for a thermometer,i do have a stand alone thermometer i got off ebay i will try to find the link to. To drill my friend that is dropping off the elements is bringing his Q max cutter so no idea where he got that sorry. ;D
