done two brews using this to pass cold water through the chiller. Really shortened my brewday. Used to take ages to get down the last 10deg or so. I meant to time it both times but got distracted but its a huge improvement. If I never use it as a beer cooler its still worth it..cheers!
How exactly do you use the cooler with the chiller? Would you mind writing a brief description & take a few photos.

You run tap water tru the beer cooler and then into copper chiller dipped in your boiler.
But heard some guys run hot wort directly tru the cooler  :o
First few litres come out at 10'C last few around 40'C. 22-25 litres aprox 23'C
Bad day brewing is better than good day working.

pics and me havent worked too well on this site before, but I'll try tomorrow. But basically, where I used to run a hose from the tap to my copper coil chiller. I instead run the hose to the Input of the beer cooler and then The Output to the copper coil chiller. Drops the temp of the water down considerably running through the copper coil, hence cooling the beer down quicker.
I always find getting from 30 deg down to 20 deg takes an age with tap water. The water passed through the beer cooler pulls the temp down very quick.
Does that make sense?
Mines the ctx25. I connect tap hose to far right input. The other input to its left is connected with a short piece of beer line to the far left output. This connects the two coils so the water passes twice through the cooler. The remaining output heads to the copper coil. Blow on the pipes if you aren't sure whats connected to what.
The input/output connections take 3/8 JG fittings. I'm using garden hose with jubilee clips with no leaks..

In theory that doesn't remove Cold Break... but considering a lot of breweries do the same with heat exchangers, maybe it doesn't matter.   :)  Sounds very convenient..

Plenty of lads on here use heat exchangers or counterflow chillers and they brew good beers with it.
But I wonder what capacity is the coil in d cooler? would one loose much wort by chilling this way?

No need to loose the beer in the coils of the cooler at the end: Just conect a CO2 line and blow down lines with CO2

Its what I always do when changing beers (like at the RDS): Flush with water, then blow down with CO2 then put on new beer/cider

This is not the same as line cleaning after a beer has been dispensing for weeks!!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

For line cleaning, I was planning on having a spare keg that first pushed a few litres of water through ,followed by a rince of starsan. Is that a reasonable approach?
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

That makes perfect sense thanks, no need for pics. Like the double pass through the cooler for extra effect. I wonder how much extra water it will save? My water pressure is very poor in my brewshed & even with the additional chugged pump it still takes 25-30 minutes to chill. Got to get me some additional jg fittings & tubing before I can try this.

As regards water saving I collected a corny of hot water and a 25lt fermentor of warm water so less than 50lt altogether to get down to temp..

I do I have 2 left anyway maybe 3. One is yours if you want it. I'm on holidays from tomorrow until the 21st but you can collect it after that if it suits?
